NEWSLETTER May 19,2000 We also wish to thank Chong Hua Hospital for the generous donation of P10,000 through Mr.Lim Liu (president of Chong Hua Hospital) during the launching. Present also were Mr. Victoriano Go (chairman of the board, Association de Benevola de Cebu), Dr. Rogelio Chua (medical director, Chong Hua Hospital), Dr. Helen Po (assistant medical director, Chong Hua Hospital), Dr. Mariztie Eribal & Dr. Jon Dee Lyco (Cebu Neuroscience Group), and Pat Melicor (administrator, Chong Hua Hospital). Thanks also to Cecil Manalac (head nurse of Chong Hua Hospital) who coordinated the installation and removal of the banners, chairs and tables. We were also graced by the presence of well-known radio talk show host Inday Nenita Daluz who has enthusiastically offered us radio and tv interviews for public exposures in support of our cause. One of the primary goals of the ESGC is to provide psychological counseling to epileptics and their families. Often, the neurological problem of epilepsy turns into a psychological struggle. Thru the timely help of Angie Cuevas, psychiatrist Dr. Robert Cañete has offered to provide the valuable counseling for free! Thank you both! Last but not least, we wish to thank ESGC members Ruth & Mike Cruz, Marilyn Villegas, Nic Nic Paulin, and Gloria and Lourdes Rosello for the unwavering support for our cause! Keep up the good work! It's been a real struggle to reach this point for the ESGC, mainly because we are the first epilepsy support group in the country (no existing guidelines to follow). In short, we are learning as we grow. There is still so much to be done, especially in terms of securing monetary donations and providing help in medication. Like the old saying goes, "The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step"...so are we today embarking on a long journey. We need you...we want you...to take that first step with us! We are confident that together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many epileptics and their families, just waiting for us to reach out and help them cross the bridges in life!
